Nurse Aide (CNA)
Our flagship certification. A blended online and onsite program that prepares you to sit for the Virginia nurse aide certification exam and step straight into hospital, long-term care and home health roles.
Since 2002, Fresh Start Healthcare has trained nurse aides, medication aides, pharmacy technicians and personal care aides across the Commonwealth – taught by working Virginia nurses, in classes small enough that your name gets learned on day one.
Every course we run exists because Virginia employers are hiring for it. Start where you are and step up as far as you want to go.
Our flagship certification. A blended online and onsite program that prepares you to sit for the Virginia nurse aide certification exam and step straight into hospital, long-term care and home health roles.
The full registered medication aide course for certified nurse aides ready to take on medication administration and grow their scope of practice and their pay.
Classroom instruction covering pharmacy calculations, law, sterile and non-sterile compounding and dispensing, built to prepare you for national pharmacy technician certification.
The fastest route into paid caregiving. Forty hours of direct care aide training that meets Virginia Department of Social Services requirements for home care agency employment.
A single-day certification covering adult, child and infant CPR, choking response, AED use and first aid. Required by most Virginia healthcare employers.
The four-hour annual refresher registered medication aides need to stay current and keep their registration in good standing.

We started in 2002 as Breath of Fresh Air – one nurse driving to churches and community centers because CPR training was hard to reach. That is still how we think about this work.

“The instructors actually work in the field, so everything they teach you is what you will really see on the floor. I passed my state exam the first time.”
“Small classes meant I could ask questions without feeling rushed. Ms. Sandy went back over the medication math with me until it clicked.”
“I started with the 40-hour personal care aide class because it was affordable, and I was working within a month. Now I am back for my CNA.”
We share openings from senior living communities, home care agencies and skilled nursing facilities across central Virginia.
Open enrollment is running now. Reserve your seat online, or call the office and we will walk you through which class fits you best.
