Fresh Start Healthcare, LLC was established in 2002 under the name Breath of Fresh Air. Founder Teresa Mason, RN had noticed a gap: people who needed CPR and First Aid training could not easily get to it.
So the training went to them. What began as a mobile service grew into a dedicated Mechanicsville location in 2007, and as demand grew so did the catalog – Nurse Aide, Pharmacy Technician and Medication Aide instruction joined the original certifications.
In 2018 we deliberately went back to where we started: community-based delivery, under the name Fresh Start Healthcare, LLC. Today we are education pioneers in the Richmond area, and we still teach the way we always have – close to the student, taught by people who do the job.

Demand outgrows the back of a car. A dedicated Mechanicsville, VA training location opens.

After starting as a CPR instructor at sixteen, Ashleigh steps into operations and has grown with the organization ever since.
The organization returns to community-based delivery and rebrands as Fresh Start Healthcare, LLC – classes go where the students are.
Teresa has spent her life in healthcare. She founded the organization in 2002, and earned her Associates in Applied Health Science and her nursing degree in 2010 while working full time – which is exactly the kind of thing she now teaches students they can do.
Ashleigh started teaching CPR at sixteen and joined full time in 2016. She runs scheduling, registration and the day-to-day of getting every class where it needs to be.
